TRANSFORMATIONS

La Habra Heights

This client had a huge backyard with one major challenge: 90% of it was a neglected hillside, leaving only a small strip of concrete for entertaining.

Our team helped reimagine the space as a fully usable, tiered hillside featuring a California room, full outdoor kitchen, pool, and spa.

With any hillside project, we prioritize thoughtful and responsible retaining wall design. Retaining walls can quickly drive up costs, so we carefully planned the layout to minimize wall heights while maximizing usable space throughout the yard.

Once the structural layout was in place, the fun began. The client came in with a lot of ideas, and collaborating through Pinterest made the process both engaging and efficient. Together, we refined the design until it felt just right.

Hollywood Hills

This project began with a newly built ADU on a large but largely neglected lot, with no clear connection to the main home. The goal was to create a cohesive design that would tie the two structures together while introducing functional outdoor living elements like a firepit and a dedicated vegetable garden.

Our team developed a layout that naturally guides movement between the main home and the ADU, creating a sense of flow and purpose throughout the space. To cover large areas in a cost-effective way, we incorporated a combination of turf and gravel, keeping the design both practical and visually clean.

As with any project involving grade changes, we carefully coordinated all retaining wall elements with the builder from the early stages. This ensured the design was not only visually aligned but also realistic to execute, helping avoid unnecessary revisions during construction.

The result is a well-connected, functional outdoor space that feels intentional, efficient, and easy to maintain.

Encino

This client came to us with an existing pool that felt outdated, defined by heavy brick, worn concrete, and unnecessary level changes that disrupted the flow of the space.

Their goal was to create a larger, more functional pool deck with multiple areas to entertain, while finding the right placement for an outdoor kitchen and firepit.

We focused on simplifying the layout and opening up the space, allowing for smoother transitions and a more cohesive experience throughout the yard. By rethinking the levels and expanding key areas, we were able to create a layout that supports both everyday use and large gatherings.

With budget in mind, the approach was to modernize the space without overcomplicating it, working with the existing footprint where possible while upgrading materials and redefining how the space is used. Do you think we managed to transform it?

Sunny Hills

This project centered around introducing a new pool while elevating the entire backyard to feel more cohesive, elegant, and connected to the home. The client’s vision was to create a seamless indoor-outdoor flow and incorporate white roses. From that starting point, the design naturally evolved.

We focused on aligning the layout with the architecture of the home, creating clear sightlines and smooth transitions between interior and exterior spaces. The pool and surrounding areas were positioned to feel like a true extension of the home, with multiple zones for relaxing and entertaining.

The white roses became a defining element, adding softness and a timeless elegance that ties the space together without overwhelming it.

The result is a refined outdoor environment that feels intentional, balanced, and effortlessly connected to the home.
